WELSH TUTORING

Expert Service

This Welsh Tutoring language, reading and writing service is available for all age groups and abilities, including beginners.

I am a patient tutor and Primary School Teacher, committed to fostering linguistic progress and attainment. I foster an environment where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, and truly learn. I believe everyone can make progress as a second language learner- whatever their previous linguistic experience.

My mission at ‘Y Tiwtor Cymraeg’ is simple: to provide high-quality service in a timely manner. I cater to each project’s specific needs to ensure excellence.

Our online lessons can happen anytime, anywhere, on weeknights and weekends, so you can fit it snugly between football, swimming lessons and dinner.

As a tutor I will review your child's progression, and adapt my teaching style and resources accordingly.

Pupils using ‘Y Tiwtor Cymraeg’ make, on average, double the progress of their peers, which has helped improve their confidence in school. Which means they are more likely to raise their hand when they know the answer – or ask for help if they don’t.

Whatever the job, we’ve got you covered. Contact us now.

OUR STORY

I am an enthusiastic, passionate first language Welsh speaker working within the Educational system as a qualified Primary School Teacher. From the beginning, I have been committed to providing service of the highest quality, paying particular attention to working efficiently while keeping the lines of communication with pupils clear and concise.

As a Primary School Teacher, I am required to ensure I am up to date with all current requirements of both the National Curriculum and exam boards, and thoroughly vetted including DBS checks. Covering the subject at all levels, I work alongside families and schools to ensure pupils reach their full potential. This includes children with special educational needs (SEN) and students who speak English as an additional language (EAL).

I have the experience and skills necessary to tackle just about every type of job that comes our way. With ‘Y Tiwtor Cymraeg’, pupils know exactly what to expect - professionalism, efficiency and exceptional results.

OUR TESTIMONIALS

At ‘Y Tiwtor Cymraeg’, strive to understand our customers’ experiences while working with us so that we can improve our services. Take a look below at what our former and returning clients have to say.

It has been a difficult two years with the pandemic. As a non-Welsh speaker whose children attend a Welsh medium school, I found home schooling a challenge at times and thought my 10 year old Theo could really benefit from some additional help to brush up on his skills. I was lucky enough to find Hannah, who offers sessions virtually, which has been perfect especially as a busy family who are always on the move. Theo absolutely loves his lessons with Hannah and looks forward to them every week. Hannah delivers the sessions in a relaxed, informal and interactive manner which my son really enjoys. Theo’s pronunciation of words and reading skills have improved after only a few sessions and I look forward to see him continually improve. Thank you for all your support.

Jessica Grahame (Parent)

‘My partner and I have been having lessons because our little girl will be starting in a Welsh Primary School in September. We are amazed by how much Hannah has taught us in just a few weeks. We are so happy with our choice of tutor. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn welsh at any level’.

Kayleigh Crabtree (Parent)

I would thoroughly recommend this service. I had learnt "standard" Welsh in school (40 years ago) but had always wanted to learn the locally spoken Welsh especially when I came back to live in North Wales. Hannah my tutor, was more than adept at being able to teach me the North Walian dialect, despite herself originating from South Wales. Hannah based her tutorials on her professional experience in teaching young children Welsh; backed up by online tools in vocabulary and grammar - and it works! I learnt at home and Hannah was always flexible and amenable in arranging a time suitable to us both - with no added costs. Good value for money and a flexible way of learning a (new) language.

Alix Hill (Pupil)

It was a really tough home schooling experience in our house. Our 10 year old son attended a Welsh medium school with his first language being Welsh. I myself am a fluent welsh speaker, but was classified as a key worker during Covid so home schooling fell to my wife the only non welsh speaker of the family. We really felt that as a result of the pandemic our son was struggling with his Welsh, and with secondary school the following year he needed some extra help before the transition. We were lucky enough to find 'Y Tiwtor Cymraeg', who’s one on one tuition session really benefited our son, his confidence and knowledge in the language grew immensely. The tutor's approach to the sessions was both fun and interactive, and my son really looked forward to his weekly sessions . We cannot thank this tutor enough for all her help which has boosted our son's confidence.

Roy Grahame (Parent)

Hannah makes her lessons fun and very useful. She makes me laugh and is really easy to talk to, and always makes me feel like I can tell her if i don't understand something. She explains things in a way that makes things easier for me, and I use the tips and tricks that Hannah gives me in the lessons to help me in class. My favourite part about the lessons is reading with her every week. The best thing about the lessons is that I get to do them in my pyjamas, which makes me happy!

Elsie (Pupil, Age 13)

I was struggling with Welsh at Primary school during Year 6, and then I started tutoring sessions with Hannah after Covid 19. I had the sessions once a week and they were lots of fun, I really enjoyed them. Hannah was really easy and nice to talk to, and I think that helped me feel relaxed so that I could improve. The lessons helped me a lot with my school work, and helped me not to worry as much. Having the sessions with Hannah when I moved to high school made a big change easier for me, and helped me understand a lot more in my welsh classes. I liked that I was able to do my lessons virtually whilst waiting in the car for my brother to play football.
